Meet Rob

I was fortunate enough to grow up alongside the natural world. Living and playing in rivers and lakes as a child, I quickly learned the importance and necessity of clean healthy ecosystems and what they can do for a person. Much of who I am has been shaped by the natural wonders that I enjoy being in. A bachelor’s in Sustainability Science and a master’s in Environmental Science & Policy offered me a new lens to look at the complex and layered issues in conservation.

As a young boy, I grew up with a fishing rod in hand. Exploring the rural rivers and lakes of central New Hampshire planted the seed that would later grow into a love and desire to protect the aquatic world. That love of rivers would later bring me all across the country, where I witnessed both pristine and highly altered ecosystems. From highly regulated rivers in the American Southeast to over-appropriated rivers in the American Southwest, I began to witness how important environmental policy was to protecting riverine ecosystems. This ultimately led me to pursue higher education in environmental science with a focus on river ecosystems.

Specialities

My specialties are in spatial and statistical analysis of ecological data. This includes using Rstudio for organizing big data and conducting statistical analysis. My statistical analysis specialties are in linear, multivariate, and quantile regression. I also use ArcMap to analyze and visualize spatial data. Visualizing information in the form of figures or maps is an extremely important aspect of my work that I take pride in. Furthermore, I am well versed in data mining for open source data as well as building and managing spatial databases.
